Le Norme Europee della serie EN 61300 ricavate, senza alcuna modifica, dalla corrispondente serie di Norme della IEC, contengono informazioni di carattere generale, nonché procedure per prove ambientali e metodi di misura relativi ai dispositivi di interconnessione e componenti passivi per fibre ottiche.
La presente Norma descrive una prova per verificare quantitativamente la capacità di un connettore di resistere a un carico di trazione senza disaccoppiarsi o che si verifichi un danno permanente al complesso terminale dei cavi o che ci sia un degrado delle prestazioni ottiche. La prova si applica a cavi rivestiti rinforzati di qualsiasi diametro, sia monomodo che multimodo.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
