La Norma si prefigge l’obiettivo di specificare quali tipi di controllo è necessario assicurare sulle condizioni di esposizione durante e dopo l'irraggiamento di materiali organici e prima di determinare l'entità dei cambiamenti fisici e chimici indotti dalla radiazione. A tale proposito si discuteranno un certo numero di condizioni di irraggiamento potenzialmente significative e saranno specificati i vari parametri che possono influenzare le reazioni indotte dalla radiazione. La norma ha lo scopo di sottolineare l’importanza che riveste la selezione dei campioni, delle condizioni di esposizione e dei metodi di prova nel determinare l’effetto della radiazione su proprietà opportunamente scelte.
La presente Norma costituisce la ristampa senza modifiche, secondo il nuovo progetto di veste editoriale, della Norma pari numero ed edizione (Fascicolo 2251).
