La presente Norma fa parte della serie IEC/EN 61249 e fornisce i requisiti delle proprietà dei prepreg (materiali preimpregnati) non rivestiti (per la realizzazione di schede multistrato), in tessuto di fibra di vetro epossidico di tipo E, di infiammabilità definita, per assiemi senza piombo (lead-free).
Questo materiale viene principalmente usato per i fogli di connessione nel collegamento degli strati, in conformità alla EN 61249-2-36 nella produzione delle schede multistrato secondo la EN 62326-4. Questo tipo di materiale inoltre può essere usato per la connessione di altri tipi di laminati.
Il grado di infiammabilità (prova di combustione verticale) per i materiali preimpregnati si ottiene usando ritardanti del fuoco brominati come parte integrante della struttura epossidica polimerizzata.
La temperatura di transizione del tessuto di vetro ha il valore minimo di 120 °C.
