La presente nuova edizione della Norma stabilisce regole per la composizione delle designazioni e dei nomi che identificano i segnali e le connessioni. Essa include anche la designazione di circuiti di alimentazione ed è applicabile a tutti i tipi di segnali all'interno di sistemi industriali, installazioni ed equipaggiamenti.
Tale Norma non è applicabile per l'identificazione di fili, terminali ed altro hardware di connessione.
Rispetto alla precedente versione di cui costituisce revisione tecnica, essa include, tra le altre, le seguenti modifiche significative:
– è stata estesa la struttura della designazione di segnali;
– è stato introdotto il concetto di "dominio del nome del segnale";
– sono stati introdotti codici di classificazione per facilitare la comprensione del nome del segnale.
La presente Norma riporta il testo in inglese e italiano della EN 61175; rispetto al precedente fascicolo n. 8126E di febbraio 2006, essa contiene la traduzione completa della EN sopra indicata.
