La presente Norma si applica ai forni ad arco sommerso trifase industriali (per es. per la produzione di ferrosilicio) con livelli di potenza nominale superiori o uguali a 1000 kVA. Essa ha lo scopo di normalizzare le condizioni di prova dei forni ad arco sommerso ed i metodi per determinare i loro parametri principali e le loro caratteristiche tecniche.
La presente Norma costituisce la ristampa senza modifiche, secondo il nuovo progetto di veste editoriale, della Norma pari numero ed edizione (Fascicolo 1984).
