Questa Norma tratta la sicurezza dei trasformatori di isolamento per applicazioni generali e unità di alimentazione che incorporano trasformatori di isolamento per applicazioni generali. Anche i trasformatori che incorporano circuiti elettronici rientrano in questa Norma. I principali cambiamenti rispetto all'edizione precedente riguardano l'aggiornamento di questa Parte in accordo alla Parte 1 e l'incremento delle tensioni di alimentazione per essere in linea con le Norme del CT 14.
La Norma in oggetto sostituisce completamente la Norma CEI EN 61558-2-4:1996-12, che rimane applicabile fino al 01-03-2012.
La presente Norma viene utilizzata congiuntamente alla Norma CEI EN 61558-1:2006-09.
