La presente Norma internazionale fa parte della serie IEC 61249 e fornisce i requisiti delle proprietà dei prepreg (materiali preimpregnati) non rivestiti, in tessuto di fibra di vetro epossidico di tipo E multifunzionale, di infiammabilità definita (prova di combustione verticale).
Questo materiale viene principalmente usato per fogli di connessione nel collegamento degli strati, in conformità alla 61249-2-8 nella produzione delle schede multistrato secondo la EN 62326-4. Questo tipo di materiale inoltre può essere usato per la connessione di altri tipi di laminati.
Il grado di infiammabilità per i materiali preimpregnati si ottiene usando ritardanti del fuoco brominati come parte integrante della struttura epossidica polimerizzata.
La temperatura di transizione del tessuto di vetro ha il valore minimo di 150° C.
