Valves covered by this standard are intended for cold water installations requiring an integral
anti-siphon device to prevent house water contamination when installed per the manufacturer's
instructions. In cold climate areas, backflow assemblies and devices shall be protected from
freezing by a method acceptable to the Administrative Authority.
