La presente Norma fornisce i metodi di misura per i televisori in condizioni in cui il segnale applicato al televisore non sia conforme alle specifiche per i segnali di radiodiffusione adottati dal CCIRR. Questi segnali fuori norma possono essere prodotti, tra le altre sorgenti, anche da videoregistratori, lettori di videodischi e telegiochi. Essa specifica metodi di misura relativi a quelle caratteristiche dei televisori di radiodiffusione di attuale tecnologia che sono state giudicate significative per determinare la loro reciproca compatibilità, in base alla natura dei segnali prodotti dai tipi di attrezzatura e sistemi ausiliari esistenti.
La presente Norma costituisce la ristampa senza modifiche, secondo il nuovo progetto di veste editoriale, della Norma pari numero ed edizione (Fascicolo 1796).
