La Norma si applica a sistemi e dispositivi integrativi delle protesi acustiche, ivi inclusi quelli utilizzati per la riabilitazione degli ipoacustici, utilizzanti campi d'induzione magnetica, trasmissione in MF, MA, raggi infrarossi o altro e dotati o meno di uscita per ingresso elettrico sulla protesi.
La presente Norma costituisce la ristampa senza modifiche, secondo il nuovo progetto di veste editoriale, della Norma pari numero ed edizione (Fascicolo 1462).
La presente Norma è sostituita parzialmente dalla Norma CEI EN 60118-4:1999-09, tuttavia la parte interessata della presente Norma è rimasta in vigore fino al 01-05-2001; è inoltre sostituita parzialmente dalla Norma CEI EN 60118-6:1999-09.
