La presente Specifica Tecnica fornisce le specifiche di funzionamento, in condizioni mutue di sicurezza ed affidabilità, dei regolatori semaforici e delle lanterne a diodi luminosi (LED). L’obiettivo del documento è quello di stabilire una serie di requisiti minimi che consenta prove di conformità separate di regolatori e lanterne. La compatibilità di regolatori e lanterne con una medesima classe, tra quelle specificate nella Specifica Tecnica, indicherebbe infatti la possibilità di funzionare insieme in modo sicuro ed affidabile.
Questa Specifica Tecnica considera soltanto unità ottiche a LED con lenti di 200 e 300 mm e non si applica a configurazioni di LED del tipo freccia o pedone.
Questa Specifica Tecnica viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
