La presente Norma specifica le prescrizioni e le prove per i sistemi di canali (CTS) e per i sistemi di condotti (CDS), destinati all'alloggiamento di conduttori, cavi ed eventualmente di altre apparecchiature elettriche e, se necessario, alla loro separazione ai fini della protezione elettrica, nelle installazioni elettriche e/o nei sistemi di telecomunicazione. La tensione massima di queste installazioni è 1000 V in corrente alternata e 1500 V in corrente continua. Questi sistemi sono destinati al montaggio a parete e/o a soffitto. Essi possono essere incassati, installati a filo o semi incassati, montati sporgenti o distanziati dalla superficie usando dispositivi di fissaggio
La presente Norma non si applica ai sistemi di tubi, ai sistemi di passerelle o passerelle a traversini porta cavi, ai sistemi di canalizzazione elettrificata o ai prodotti trattati da altre Norme.
La presente Norma riporta il testo in inglese e italiano della EN 50085-2-1; rispetto al precedente fascicolo n. 8629E di gennaio 2007, essa contiene la traduzione completa della EN sopra indicata.
La presente versione della Norma Tecnica incorpora l'Errata Corrige n. 1 di Novembre 2009.
