La presente Norma Europea fa riferimento alla EN 50117-1 e deve essere usata congiuntamente.
La norma presente si applica ai cavi coassiali miniaturizzati singoli e/o multipli usati nei sistemi di comunicazione digitale per applicazioni di telecomunicazione.
I cavi oggetto della Norma sono usati nei collegamenti interni e per le interconnessioni tra apparecchiature di commutazione, trasmissione, multiplazione e collegamento ed inoltre per le connessioni alla struttura digitale di distribuzione.
Questi cavi coassiali sono progettati per la trasmissione dei seguenti segnali : E1 (2 Mbit/s), E2 (8 Mbit/s), E3 (34 Mbit/s), E4 (140 Mbit/s), STM (155 Mbit/s), DS1 (1,5 Mbit/s), DS2 (6 Mbit/s),
DS3 (34 Mbit/s).
Scopo della norma è quello di specificare i metodi di prova applicabili ed i requisiti per le prestazioni elettriche, meccaniche ed ambientali del cavo ed il comportamento in caso di incendio.
L’utilizzo dei cavi della norma prevede tensioni fino a 50 V a.c. e/o 120 V in corrente continua.
