La Norma contiene le prescrizioni prestazionali, meccaniche, ambientali e dimensionali ad inizio vita, che una muffola non ermetica per fibre soffiate con aria, adatte ad essere installate in condotti e microcondotti, deve soddisfare per essere classificata come un prodotto aderente alla norma europea.
I prodotti specificati in questa Norma sono adatti ad essere usati per unità di fibra installati in microcondotti, per cavi in fibra ottica installati in microcondotti, per microcondotti e microcondotti protetti così come definiti dalla norma EN/IEC 60794-5.
Quando le muffole non ermetiche sono installate in ambiente sotterraneo, è obbligatorio usare connettori ABF ermetici aderenti alla Norma EN-50411-2-8, allo scopo di garantire le prestazioni e l'affidabilità attese per la rete.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
