La presente Norma stabilisce dei metodi per determinare le grandezze caratteristiche delle macchine sincrone trifase in base a prove. La Norma si applica a macchine con potenza uguale o superiore a 1 kVA, e con frequenza compresa tra 10 Hz e 500 Hz.
Particolari precauzioni nell’utilizzo della presente Norma sono richieste per macchine sincrone senza spazzole e macchine a magneti permanenti.
Macchine sincrone speciali, quali ad esempio macchine del tipo ad induzione e a flusso trasversale, sono escluse dalla Norma. Essa, inoltre, non deve essere interpretata come la richiesta di esecuzione di alcune o di tutte le prove ivi descritte su qualsiasi macchina data. Le prove particolari da eseguire saranno soggette a un accordo tra costruttore ed utilizzatore.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
