La presente norma internazionale fa parte della serie IEC 60068 e descrive un metodo di prova accelerata per verificare gli effetti dell’ossidazione dell’argento e delle leghe d’argento utilizzate nei contatti e nelle connessioni.
Lo scopo della prova considerata nella norma è quindi quello di determinare l’influenza di atmosfere contenenti acido solfidrico sulle proprietà di contatto per contatti realizzati con argento o lega d’argento; argento protetto da altro rivestimento; altri metalli ricoperti d’argento o lega d’argento.
La prova inoltre permette di verificare le connessioni senza saldatura (per compressione o per avvolgimento) costituite dai materiali di cui al punto precedente, per quanto riguarda ermeticità ed efficacia.
In tutte le prove il criterio principale di giudizio è la variazione della resistenza di contatto provocata dalla esposizione in atmosfera contenente acido solfidrico.
