Questa seconda edizione della Norma IEC 60300-3-2 fornisce le linee guida per la raccolta dei dati relativi ad affidabilità, manutenibilità, disponibilità e supporto di manutenzione di elementi operativi in campo.
Essa tratta in termini generali gli aspetti pratici della raccolta dei dati e la presentazione dei risultati e si applica a tutte le possibili relazioni tra fornitore ed utilizzatore.
Rispetto alla prima edizione la Norma è stata completamente riscritta al fine di fornire linee guida per la raccolta dati di tipo più generale e quindi meno legate ai componenti. Essa indica inoltre le linee guida su accuratezza e precisione e sulle tecniche di raccolta automatica dei dati.
