La presente Norma riguarda la sicurezza elettrica degli apparecchi di pulizia di uso domestico: in particolare quelli destinati alla pulizia di superfici, come ad esempio finestre, pareti, soffitti e piscine vuote, usando detersivi o vapore.
La Norma si applica anche agli apparecchi per staccare la carta parati.
Questi apparecchi di pulizia possono incorporare elementi riscaldanti o pressurizzanti del liquido contenuto. La tensione nominale prevista per tali apparecchi non deve superare 250V.
La Norma non si applica invece alle macchine per il trattamento dei pavimenti e strofinapavimenti, ai vaporizzatori per tessuti, agli apparecchi fissati permanentemente agli edifici, agli apparecchi per la pulizia destinati ad un uso commerciale o industriale e agli apparecchi per la pulizia che:
– operano ad una pressione superiore a 2,5 MPa,
– con una temperatura del liquido superiore a 160 °C,
– con una potenza nominale superiore a 3 500 W,
– con un volume pressurizzato superiore a 5 l.
