La Norma fa parte della serie EN/IEC 60512-15, che tratta le prove meccaniche sui connettori di apparati elettronici di competenza del Sotto Comitato CEI 48B.
In particolare essa definisce il metodo di prova per misurare la capacità del sistema di ritenzione del contatto ad opporsi ad un carico assiale, simile a quello sostenuto durante il normale funzionamento e tendente a sfilarlo dal frutto.
La presente Norma cancella e sostituisce la prova 15a della Norma internazionale IEC 60512-8 del 1993. Tale Norma non è stata recepita né a livello europeo dal CENELEC, né a livello nazionale dal CEI. Al momento della pubblicazione della presente, la prova di cui sopra era trattata dalla Norma CEI 48-9 del 1988 (in vigore ma esclusa da catalogo); quest'ultima continuerà a restare in vigore per le prove non trattate dalla presente Norma.
La presente Norma viene utilizzata congiuntamente alle Norme EN 60512-1 ed EN 60512-1-100.
