La presente Norma ha lo scopo di specificare metodi uniformi di prova per la valutazione delle prestazioni dei regolatori PID utilizzati nella regolazione dei processi industriali con segnali analogici di ingresso e di uscita. Le condizioni di prova specificate nella norma, per esempio la gamma di temperatura ambientale, della tensione di alimentazione, ecc., sono adottate quando non siano disponibili altri valori concordati tra produttore e utilizzatore.
La presente Norma contiene modifiche tecniche di lieve entità e l'aggiornamento di termini, unità e riferimenti.
La Norma in oggetto sostituisce completamente la Norma CEI EN 60546-1:1998-05, che rimane applicabile fino al 01-10-2013.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
