La Norma fa parte della serie EN/IEC 60745 riguardante la sicurezza elettrica degli utensili elettrici a motore trasportabili ed in particolare essa
tratta della sicurezza delle smerigliatrici, levigatrici e lucidatrici del tipo a disco.
La velocità periferica del disco delle smerigliatrici non deve superare 80 m/s.
Le levigatrici e lucidatrici sono angolari, diritte e verticali.
Tra l’altro nella Norma vengono descritte le condizioni di prova per la molatura angolare, diritta, per la lucidatura e per la levigatura a disco
Essa copre i requisiti essenziali della Direttiva Macchine 2006/42/EC (Allegato ZZ)
La Norma in oggetto sostituisce completamente la Norma CEI EN 60745-2-3:2007-10, che rimane applicabile fino al 01-02-2014
La Norma deve essere usata congiuntamente alla CEI EN 60745-1:2010-05.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
