La presente Norma si applica agli elementi e alle batterie di accumulatori al piombo destinati all'impiego in installazioni fisse (per le quali cioè non si prevedono abitualmente cambiamenti di posto) e collegati permanentemente ad un carico e ad una alimentazione in corrente continua. Le batterie di accumulatori che funzionano in queste condizioni sono denominate "batterie di accumulatori stazionarie".
L'oggetto della presente Norma è di specificare le prescrizioni generali e le caratteristiche principali, compresi i corrispondenti metodi di prova, riguardanti tutti i tipi di batterie di accumulatori stazionarie al piombo, esclusi i tipi regolate con valvole.
