La presente Norma specifica le prescrizioni minime di prestazione, i metodi di prova ed i risultati delle prove richieste per le prescrizioni generali che possono essere applicate a quelle caratteristiche comuni a tutte le seguenti apparecchiature:
a) radio a bordo di navi che fanno parte del sistema di sicurezza e di pericolo marittimo globale ed apparecchiature di navigazione a bordo delle navi richieste dalla Convenzione internazionale SOLAS modificata e dal protocollo 1993 alla Convenzione sulla sicurezza dei pescherecci del 1977;
b) solo per EMC, tutte le apparecchiature montate su ponti, apparecchiature in prossimità di antenne riceventi ed apparecchiature in grado di interferire con una navigazione sicura della nave e con comunicazioni radio (Risoluzione IMO A.813).
La presente versione della Norma Tecnica incorpora il Corrigendum IEC di Aprile 2008.
