La Norma considera le prove termiche di accettazione per turbine a vapore.
Rappresenta una revisione della IEC 46 (1962) resasi necessaria dall’aumento di potenza delle turbine a vapore. Dato che i metodi utilizzabili per condurre e valutare le prove termiche d’accettazione sono diversi, si è diviso la normativa in due parti, in modo da soddisfare tutte le necessità dell’industria elettrica.
Il metodo A descritto nella Parte 1 della presente Norma si occupa di metodi ad alta precisione per grandi turbine a condensazione.
Il metodo B è trattato dalla CEI EN 60953-2.
