Questa Norma si applica ai condensatori per corrente alternata, sia autorigenerabili sia non autorigenerabili, con potenza inferiore o uguale a 2,5 kVAr, capacità superiore a 0,1 µF, aventi una tensione nominale non superiore a 1000 V, che sono impiegati nei circuiti delle lampade a scarica funzionanti ad una frequenza di 50 Hz o 60 Hz ad un'altitudine non superiore a 3000 m. Si applica ai condensatori collegati in derivazione o in serie al circuito di lampada o secondo una combinazione di questi due tipi di collegamento. Riguarda soltanto i condensatori impregnati o non impregnati, aventi un dielettrico costituito da carta, film plastico o da una loro combinazione, metallizzati o con elettrodi a foglio metallico.
