La presente Norma rappresenta un rilevante aggiornamento tecnico rispetto all'edizione precedente e specifica requisiti e prove per controllori programmabili e per le periferiche a essi associati.
Lo scopo di questa Norma è:
– definire e identificare le principali caratteristiche necessarie per scegliere e utilizzare i controllori programmabili e le periferiche ad essi associate;
– specificare i minimi requisiti per le caratteristiche funzionali, elettriche, meccaniche, ambientali e costruttive, le condizioni di assistenza, di sicurezza, di compatibilità elettromagnetica, di programmabilità e di prove applicabili ai controllori programmabili e alle periferiche ad essi associate.
La Norma in oggetto sostituisce completamente la Norma CEI EN 61131-2:2004-05, che rimane applicabile fino al 01-08-2010.
