La presente Norma descrive i metodi di misurazione meccanica relativi ai parametri di compatibilità per i metodi di registrazione e misurazione del nastro registrato. Le tolleranze consentite per i valori assegnati al fine di ottenere il rendimento accettabile non sono precisate nella presente Norma, tuttavia si possono desumere dalle caratteristiche per il relativo sistema, es. dalle relative pubblicazioni, caratteristiche fornite dai fabbricanti ecc.
Essa tratta le tecniche speciali di misurazione meccanica per VTR destinate alla radiodiffusione. I metodi valgono per le prove di accettazione, il confronto del rendimento e, per quanto possibile, per controlli di routine.
La presente Norma costituisce la ristampa senza modifiche, secondo il nuovo progetto di veste editoriale, della Norma pari numero ed edizione (Fascicolo 2713 E).
