La presente Norma internazionale fa parte della serie EN/IEC 61249 e fornisce i requisiti delle proprietà dei prepreg (materiali preimpregnati) non rivestiti, in tessuto di fibra di vetro epossidico di tipo E di infiammabilità definita (Prova di combustione verticale).
Questo materiale viene principalmente usato come fogli di connessione nel collegamento degli strati, in conformità alla EN/IEC 61249-2-7, nella produzione delle schede multistrato secondo la EN/IEC 62326-4. Questo tipo di materiale inoltre può essere usato per la connessione di altri tipi di laminati.
Il grado di infiammabilità per i materiali preimpregnati si ottiene usando ritardanti del fuoco brominati come parte integrante della struttura epossidica polimerizzata.
Dopo la laminazione la temperatura di transizione del tessuto di vetro ha il valore minimo di 120° C.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
