La presente Norma fornisce le prescrizioni volte ad evitare guasti di causa comune (CCF) della strumentazione e dei sistemi di controllo (I&C) che svolgono funzioni di categoria A; in aggiunta essa prescrive l’implementazione di sistemi I&C tra loro indipendenti, allo scopo di rimediare ai CCF, mentre il rischio di accadimento di CCF viene ridotto da una rigorosa applicazione dei principi generali di sicurezza così come riportati nelle Norme del SC 45A (in particolare le Norme EN/IEC 61226, IEC 61513, EN/IEC 60880 e EN/IEC 60709); la Norma fornisce un panorama completo dei requisiti fondamentali relativi ai CCF.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
