La Guida fornisce le istruzioni per la redazione delle specifiche tecniche necessarie all'approvvigionamento di preriscaldatori d'acqua di alimentazione da installare nelle centrali per la produzione dell'energia elettrica. Essa si applica ai preriscaldatori a superficie, sia a piastra tubiera sia a collettore, che hanno lo scopo di riscaldare, con vapore estratto dalla turbina, il condensato e l'acqua di alimento. Non si applica invece ai preriscaldatori a contatto diretto ed a quelli che utilizzano fluidi scaldanti diversi dal vapore estratto dalla turbina.
